On 11/14 Safe Haven “No Kill” Animal Sanctuary closed its doors 16 days sooner than the “closing date” of Nov 30. #ASPCA stepped in Oct 21.
The Sanctuary, which has a history of bad B.O.Ds and a laundry list of problems from Warehousing dogs to mismanagement of $839k.
Volunteers and employees came back and helped the dogs. Even when the shelter didn’t make payroll.
Tireless efforts have gotten the shelter down from 103 dogs to 41 dogs as of 11/13/13.
0 dogs by Nov 30 Was the goal if everyone. Adopters and rescues showed up just before 12pm only to find that the ASPCA has locked all the dogs inside and no one was allowed in. No Volunteers. No one. Police were called, threatened people of “trespassing”
If the rescues weren’t brick and mortar, they weren’t allowed to adopt.
The 21 dogs that barely made it out and were taken by the ASPCA. To unknown destinations until they released the names of the shelters and rescues most of which up north in Maine & Massachusetts & NH.
Brandi was one of the remaining dogs of 19 that was put down. Due to “a threat to dogs and humans”. The decision was #SafeHavenDE decision along with the #ASPCA. Please join us in DE by showing your displeasure in how the #ASPCA has handled this. We demand answers.
Not ALL dogs are good with other dogs. These dogs were going stir crazy because it was chaos. I’d be pissy and fearful too!
